Born to be birding – 12-year old Francesco Barberini from Italy shows the world that you can be a great ornithologist at any age

Francesco Barberini, one of Italy’s youngest and definitely one of the most famous ornithologists just published his third (!) book at the age of 12. In form of a travel journal, the publication describes his birding adventures during an 11-day trip to the Seychelles. Francesco is not only an enthusiastic SWAROVSKI OPTIK user, but was also awarded the honorary title of “Italian Knight” by the President of the Italian Republic. With his passion for birds and fierce commitment to preserving them, he is an inspiration to the entire birding community.

What were your achievements at the age of 12? Saying goodbye to your stuffed animals? Replacing the cartoon bed sheets with white ones? Or slamming the door in the face of your parents for the first time? If your name is Francesco Barberini, you just published your third book (a travel journal about your last trip to the Seychelles) and met the President of the Italian Republic when receiving the title of “Italian Knight”.

Francesco already released two books about birds and flying dinosaurs. With his latest publication, the aspiring ornithologist takes the reader to the paradise of the Seychelles, where he encountered many awesome creatures. During this fantastic trip, he discovered many of the island’s animals. The young Italian shares his joy and amazement, as he watches Magpie-robins (Copsychus sechellarum), Greater crested terns (Thalasseus bergii), Seychelles paradise flycatchers (Terpsiphone corvina), and many more.

“Being surrounded by nature and watching birds awakens a special sensation in your heart. I am kindly inviting you to experience it for yourself.
